@NicolaAWrites Good luck! With an older (teen) we managed to work backwards from a palatal once, very very gradually (watch for retro flex creeping in if you try this though), and another found that visualising her tongue making the right shape worked(as a step between depressor/own fingers 1/2

@NicolaAWrites Hi, have you tried with the tongue depressor laterally? It can give a firmer hold than straight up, and encourage the rest of the tongue back slightly too.
Coming from an exaggerated 'pirate' arrrrrrgh can sometimes work. Are you coming at this as a parent, an slt or both?
