Thoughts on elementary students learning how to create digital content such as their own website? What sort of website would you recommend for them to make?
In school I have made eportfolios that contain final pieces of my work. Do you think digital content such as an eportfolio would be useful for elementary students as well? Do we teach them to create a place to store all their important work? #IM421
To introduce new digital content into the classroom, what are y’all’s thoughts on broadcasting? Having students read scripts and record themselves to later present to their class or their school. #IM421
@S_Cooper95 Reading those numbers I was surprised at first because they were so high. However, children love interactive games and tools they use for class on their tablets or laptops.
@OliviaTrobec Digital content in a classroom setting means to me that students get exposure to technology. Technology educates students beyond the textbook. Teachers can introduce technology tools to the class, and students can work with these tools to further their education.
@BrinnyMastey I agree! Feedback is always useful! Any strategies to get good/raw feedback from students? Maybe require a written reflection, a paragraph in length?
@TeacherMik_ I agree with both you and Caitlin! What about skills students may be slacking with when they return to school? Maybe some students will struggle with socializing? Food for thought :)
@PeelerAly I believe that incentives can be beneficial if used in the right way. For example, at my daycare we use “puffs” as an incentive. If a child demonstrates good behavior they get to pick a puff from the bowl and place it in the jar. Once the jar is full we earn a class party.
@S_Cooper95 Once a routine is established, students confidence enhances and they are able to perform tasks without asking the teacher frequent questions.
This year students have taken the use of technology to a whole new level due to restrictions regarding covid. Technology is now how most students participate in school. A pro to this is that students have developed or enhanced their technology skills. #IM421
Last class we discussed making coding more available to our students. Coding at a young age may inspire some students to choose a career path regarding engineering. As educators let us expand our classroom activities and encourage new skills to be developed. #IM421
I believe it is beneficial for students to partake in the roles of a interviewer and an interviewee. This way students get practice in new skills that they will need as future employees and potential employers. #IM421
