@ClementChem For textbooks, I know Earth Materials (Klein and Philpotts) has a couple chapters where they write about minerals' roles in society if that's something you're looking for

@ClementChem The Disappearing Spoon has a good chapter on REEs and the mine where they were discovered, but I can't think of anything else specific to minerals/metals. Maybe other books on the elements?
