@CSAssam_ We are deeply honoured to be acknowledged in your inspiring address at the Northeast Nurses Workforce Summit by EbekMed.
OET shares your vision of empowering the nursing workforce and recognises the critical role nurses play in delivering high-quality healthcare.
It was indeed a great honour and privilege to address the Plenary Session of the Northeast Nurses Workforce Summit, organised by Ebekmed, as the Chief Guest. Held in Guwahati, the Summit brought together esteemed healthcare professionals from across the Northeast, directors and registrars of nursing colleges, nurses, and other distinguished guests.
Summits like this are crucial as they provide opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing. Nurses are the backbone of our community healthcare system. They play a pivotal role, and the world has witnessed their unwavering dedication and compassion during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have witnessed significant progress in the healthcare sector in Assam, particularly in the last decade.
According to the SRS 2019–21 report, the State’s Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) has dropped from 195 to 167, which is a remarkable achievement. This progress has been made possible by the tireless efforts and dedication of our nursing community, ASHA workers, and healthcare professionals.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr @himantabiswa envisions Assam as a hub of nursing excellence. To realise this vision, the Government has been making substantial investments in establishing nursing colleges across the State over time.
Each year, approximately 8,500 nursing graduates complete their education from around 180 public and private nursing institutions in Assam.
It is our collective responsibility to create an environment that enables these graduates to serve the healthcare community effectively.
A skilled workforce is paramount for the healthcare industry. The Government of Assam is eager to explore partnership opportunities with entities like Ebekmed, Cambridge, and OET to enhance the skills of our nurses and improve patient care.
On behalf of the Government, I extend an invitation to all stakeholders to collaborate in key areas of the health sector, contributing to the advancement of healthcare in Assam and the Northeast.
I express my gratitude to Mr. G. Sreekanthan, Chairman and Managing Director of Ebekmed Edventures Private Limited, and his team for organising this wonderful Summit. It is initiatives like these that empower our nursing students and healthcare professionals to enhance their skills and serve society better.
