@Eduventuring04 In my hypothetical case we eventually stopped sharing detailed plans. (Frustration etc) and left skeleton plans. She had them silent read, go on the computer programs (lexis etc) - basically did not step up in any way.

@Eduventuring04 That teacher is acting as a sub. They are given plans that they follow. They need to be a part of the creation so they know what (why) we plan and teach they way we do.

@FavoriteTeach11 Not in VA (some schools have free breakfast and lunch - maybe 10-15%). Never free for teachers almost $5. Food is freshly made. I get it on certain days.

@Liberal_Boomer @theashleyray Yes it can. You don’t learn to read through osmosis. Systematic explicit instruction. Reading at home (any language) is beneficial for MANY reasons - but don’t use the lack of it to blame families for their children’s reading struggles.

@ehanford I was the teacher that had kids knocking on my door to borrow books. It was awesome. I also failed 15-20% of my students. I know better and do better. (Ps. I still have kids knocking on my door for books because I can do both!!)

@JasonJAnger I used it in 3rd and knew what series/ book each student was reading. Those that were not there yet were pulled for my first group at that time.
My only regret is that I was using guided reading and not phonics/decodable books with that group.
