Heart disease is not just a man’s disease; it is the leading cause of death for women, too.
Check out this great video by my colleague @SalimaqMD and a brave patient telling her story.

@AvrahamCooperMD@Paintothal Wow. And, it does not appear that this patient has a crazy high BMI, which some incorrectly believe are the only ones having an issue. Everybody needs to vaxed!!
LSU will require all Tiger Stadium guests 12 years of age and older to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to entry.

@TheDeltaDon@drdeshotels@ZVR09 I get it. Glad they talked to their doc. The FDA approved the booster in this situation yesterday. Not sure where that rec is coming from. Only reason to not take is severe allergy to vax or ingredients.
@TheDeltaDon@drdeshotels@ZVR09 This is not correct. Immunocompromised are actually recommended to get the usual two dose schedule plus a third booster dose. Response is more variable, but still highly recommended.
@whodatscantdat@JonathanDNida@Saints And there is nothing political here. This is a public health emergency. This is a necessary stop for the health care system to recover.
@whodatscantdat@JonathanDNida@Saints It’s not “on you.” If you get sick and require hospitalization, it also affects every other person that needs that bed. Surgeries for cancer, heart disease, etc are postponed bc of bed availability. Each individual’s choice directly affects the community.
@whodatscantdat@JonathanDNida@Saints Covid vax does not have live virus and can’t cause infection. I would disagree with “taking my chances” based on being young and healthy. This is the group currently getting sick and hospitalized. Vaccinated people under 50 are rarely getting admitted. Seems like the safer bet.
@emily_fri For CCU rounds, I review the vitals/labs before rounds. I use a single page list and write only important notes while reviewing charts. I pre-round on patients requiring mechanical support and with likely discharge. Any extra time, I spend talking to those with family present.

Why can furosemide improve dyspnea/pulmonary edema from acute congestive heart failure within minutes of administration?
The answer does not involve diuresis.
