Mrs. Badran & Mrs. Haisma's students at Creekside explored Latin American countries around the world in their latitude/longitude lesson this past week. ZPS teachers always look for strategies to make lessons meaningful & relevant. #ZPSLearningforLife

It’s amazing how something as simple as putting some books out on the white board will get students talking and excited about books. #Newbery100#middleschool
Reading aloud isn't just for little kids. Check out this article from our friends @ScholParents on why it's important to read aloud to your older tweens, teens and maybe adults too... #WorldReadAloudDay https://t.co/BHd9SqA6AG
Today a student I have for both ELA and Social Studies figured out the ending of Refugee by @AlanGratz based on what we are learning in Social Studies right now. This school year has been exhausting, but it’s still so fun to see students making those connections in class.
@tmaynard5@edpuzzle I’ve also had issues with Edpuzzle loading on the school iPads. To be fair, I haven’t tried using it in awhile, since it was so problematic.
Students have been understandably timid about borrowing books this year, so I’m using my First Chapter “Fridays” to build excitement. In honor of the release of Three Keys this week, I read Front Desk by @kellyyanghk. I ended up loaning out 10 copies in my 2 ELA classes!
Today I noticed an absent student working on a @classkick assignment so I left her a quick note. She responded with a question that I could quickly answer. It’s been a lot to adjust everything this fall, but it’s so nice to start seeing the value in all the changes I’ve made!
@TheMrJohnson5th@Classkick I also had this in my classes today. It was an improvement over them being completely blocked out last week, but still required extra patience for everyone.
It’s so easy to focus on the restrictions, but this is something I never would have done the first week of school. I think we’re all enjoying the mask breaks/outdoor work time this year.
There were kids in these seats again today! After spending so much time planning for their return, it felt so good to be back with @Creekside_MS students again. Today was different, but it was still good. #smilingbehindmymask
