Today I had my yearly MRI (with gadolinium contrast) to check the spinal cord in my neck. Something was picked up a few years ago- results then were that it’s low flow cavernous malformation, like a birth mark in my spinal cord. Should get results in a few weeks 🤞🏽
After a 3 night stay at the Western General, I’m home. I had metapneumovirus, a respiratory virus and also pneumonia. I also have a bit of lung fibrosis which didn’t help and was quite poorly for a while.
It’ll take a while to recover but I’m home and so grateful to be here 💛

Today is my 6 year cancerversary. 6 years since I got that phone call telling me I had incurable secondary breast cancer. How I wish that I had seen someone like me then. Someone who was still living and thriving after 6 years. It would have given me such hope.
#IncurableCancer
Researchers estimate that 35% of people with primary breast cancer will develop secondary breast cancer within 10 years of their initial diagnosis. Source @make2ndscount
And that doesn’t include the people like me who were diagnosed ‘de novo’ straight to secondary cancer.

After nearly 3 incredible years as the Chair of @cancercard_ , I have made the decision to step back from this leading role.
It’s the right time for me and a great opportunity for a new Chair to lead Cancer Card into our next phase of growth and impact.
