Joe Rogan: Why are you a Democrat?
@JamesTalarico: My mother met my birth father, who had a drinking problem that sometimes led to being violent. My mom decided right then and there that she was leaving. She found a little apartment in East Austin and worked double duty at a hotel to provide for us. She saw Texas Democrats like Ann Richards, people who fought for the little guy. That was the classic Democratic Party. I asked my mom what we were, and she was like, ‘We're Democrats, because Democrats fight for the people.’ Our historical legacy is the party that fights for the little guy. That's why I'm a Democrat.
Duke's mayonnaise has no sugar in it, and Hellmann's and Kraft both do. Duke's lists soybean oil, eggs, water, distilled and cider vinegar, salt, oleoresin paprika, natural flavors and calcium disodium EDTA. Hellmann's Real lists sugar right after the salt, and Kraft Real Mayo lists it first in its under 2% group.
The sugar is allowed. FDA's standard for mayonnaise requires at least 65% vegetable oil by weight, plus egg and an acid like vinegar or lemon juice, and it lists sugar and other sweeteners as optional. Neither brand uses much. Both labels show 0g of carbohydrate per tablespoon.
Duke's credits the cider vinegar for its tang, and with no sugar in the jar there's nothing sweet to soften it. The recipe goes back to 1917, when Eugenia Duke was selling sandwiches in Greenville, South Carolina.
The nor’easter lashing Nantucket with wind and rain this weekend has uncovered the remains of a shipwreck along the island’s south shore.
The fragment is likely from the 19th century schooner Warren Sawyer, a wooden ship that wrecked near Miacomet Beach on December 22, 1884.

While Ohioans are paying record high costs at the gas pump and the grocery store, Jon Husted is voting for more war – and costing you more money – every chance he gets.
