@Chungeoisie @ItsChicagoku @uenlingual @Staroxvia Yea that's a separate statement. Coal plants don't have gas turbines. Nuclear uses more cooling water than coal because all the waste heat is removed with water. Coal uses more water when using carbon capture, but those are currently very uncommon.

Nuclear power has higher water use per MWh. This doesn't make coal or natural gas a better option, but it's an important consideration with growing water scarcity.

@uenlingual @Staroxvia Currently coal plants are being replaced with natural gas to meet these peaks in demand. Conventional nuclear is not easily ramped up to balance the loads, small modular nuclear reactors can be ramped up and down much more quickly.
