A message from a wise colleague today…our words as teachers hold immense power with our students. We can help them believe in themselves when they have doubts or we can damage their self-worth with a single poorly chosen comment. Choose well, and uplift always! 💕
Yes! Admin, Superintendents, CAOs, School Board Members, and beyond. Stakeholders are so important! It makes a difference when they are invested! #inclusive#ElonEd#NCTOYPOY
A3: I think we have to do more to plant seeds with our students who would make great educators. I know I don't often enough invite my students to join me in this profession. #ElonEd
A3: I'll answer my own question too! We have to also make sure that we are creating spaces in districts and buildings where the perspectives that come with diversity are welcomed. #ElonEd#NCTOYPOY
A2: I think there is a general lack of trust of educators today- but before there can be trust, there has to be relationships. So I would invite families and community partners to priorititze building relationships with the educators serving their communities. #ElonEd
A2: Words of encouragement and donation of resources in time and money. Educators are emotionally depleted and up against damaging narratives about public education. Build those relationships and lift up those educators! #ElonEd
A1: Human capital is a big challenge. We need well trained, well placed individuals in all schools. If this is not addressed, those already in place will face increasing responsibilities and pressure. This will increase burnout and people leaving. #Elon#NCTOYPOY#ElonEd
A1: Staffing shortages whether due to the Great Resignation, the shrinking pipeline or long-time underfunding of student support positions, are making it even all that more challenging for educators today. #ElonEd
A1: The three issues: Recruitment, Retention, Support. Also, the expectations of educators is to be everything to each student. The amount of non-teaching duties has grown and leads to educators being pulled in many directions, many away from lesson planning. #ElonEd#NCTOYPOY
@scomorrison I agree! 1st Grade teacher here! So many challenges. Family communication and RELATIONSHIPS are so very important! Our younger students need so much. We need more people, resources, and support. #1stgraderocks#ElonEd#NCTOYPOY
A1: The biggest problem is quite literally people. We don't have enough of everyone in the building to help with the kids. We need to continue to retain quality teachers and work to recruit committed and passionate educators into the field. #ElonEd#NCTOYPOY
