Today I am presenting my MSc work at the #sommetsurlesdépendances in Montreal. In our survey, 2/3 of participants with chronic pain that indicated needing psychotherapy did not receive enough or did not receive any at all!! Ps. I’m also graduating today ☺️#chronicpain#addiction
Took 2 years btwn my MSc and my PhD. Explored my passions outside of research, discovered I love tennis. Explored other research areas, turns out I still love substance use & chronic pain. Life outside of research exists…combining everything together will be the dream!
Started last month a PhD in Public Health at the UdM… it has been intense… bursary apps when you don’t even know your own project yet, new classes, constant hw, joining new research teams, finishing past work engagements…hope it gets better! 😅
I attended yesterday and today the #Sommetsurlesdépendances in Montreal. A provincial francophone addiction congress. This type of forum only reminds me the importance of working in the interest of those most vulnerable. If we don’t do it, who will?
Grad day!! Sooo proud of my fellow graduates. Who when the pandemic started, seldomly complained and went to Zoom to carry on and pull through💪🏼🥹🫶🏻 #MSc@mcgillu#Warriors
I feel like most senior PIs are like sports coaches. They provide guidance & help us improve our techniques, but don’t ask them to go back to the field 🫣…still, who would we be without coaches? #AcademicChatter#AcademicTwitter@AcademicChatter
📣 Cognitive factors change pain.
🧠 Focusing on + thinking about pain AMPLIFIES pain volume, while distraction LOWERS pain volume.
❌This doesn't mean pain is "all in your head."
✨It *does* mean that brain-based tools can adjust pain volume.
👏🏼Pain is CHANGEABLE

In a sample of people w/ chronic pain in Quebec, we found that only 16% reported having their perceived mental health care needs met! Time to raise awareness about the importance of MHC for CP! Thank you for the opportunity to present at the @DouglasResearch Research day!
So excited to share this webinar where I presented findings from a survey completed by people w/ chronic pain about the accessibility of #mentalhealth services! Check it out 😄
Thank you to @rqrd_qprn for the opportunity to speak today at the Lunch & Talk series with my team led by Dr. Michel Perreault. With prelim qualitative data from our studies, we hoped to describe the inequalities that people with chronic pain experience in health care.
