I think it's important to understand in this Palworld vs Pokemon conversation that while pokemon fans are being ridiculous with what they call plagiarism, Palworld also isn't the next big thing in monster catchers. The hype will die down and it has no long term staying power.

Seeing a lot of boomers judging people for enjoying the QoL changes pokemon made like teamwide exp share and i just can't help but think that y'all suffered so you want others to, individually training pokemon in older games was and is a pain in the ass.

@labiamajorasmas @Milosolos1 Bringing up similar examples to point out that type isn't as simple as "Oh it's name is __ so this type" isn't whataboutism you're being intentionally obtuse and shifting goal posts rather than admitting it's not unreasonable for people to have that impression of Luxray.

@labiamajorasmas @Milosolos1 You realize saying -insert trivia bit i read off bulbapedia here- isn't a typing argument? "It's based of japanese superstition that's why it's a darktype" for Sableye but "It's based off japanese superstition that's why it's not a dark type" for Dusknoir

@labiamajorasmas @Milosolos1 The arguments for Umbreon are as thin as any made for Luxray. (naturally aggressive where? Poison is evil... not poison type?) People 'imagined' that Sableye can steal souls when in reality it lives a quiet life and eats rocks. Dusknoir isn't ghost dark so why does name matter?

@AugustLaveau @N7_JaneShepard I think the x-ray vision leaving prey nowhere to hide, and intimidating presence /edgy design are more than enough for that typing to fit. Not saying it has to be because of those things, but sableye just eats rocks and lives a quiet life but got the dark type.

@labiamajorasmas @Milosolos1 A taboo is a matter of social perception which is what i was getting at. Also what about Umbreon? If anything sweating poison would make more sense as a poison type. The explicitly malicious and underhanded gengar apparently warranted the poison type more than one that makes it.

@labiamajorasmas @Milosolos1 Okay but this logic isn't 100% consistent and you could also apply it to Luxray, Luxray could be seen as a relentless predator that prey cannot hide from. I'm not saying Luxray *needs* a dark typing. I just don't think it would be out of place with a secondary dark typing.

@AugustLaveau @N7_JaneShepard Firstly no one is angry i just think it's silly to pretend that it's 'so obvious' that Luxray shouldn't have a dark typing when type logic isn't consistent. Secondly all the things associated with alolan meowth's behavior making it dark are just normal cat things.

@AugustLaveau @N7_JaneShepard Yeah but the point is type logic isn't consistent and to pretend that people imagining luxray as electric dark is stupid because of imagined rules is silly. Alolan meowth likes spare change and battles crows for shiny things making it dark/evil but not the one in a crime gang?

@labiamajorasmas @Milosolos1 Hey quickly what about absol makes it dark type? Is it just that humans have a bad impression of the creature that warns them of disasters? So the human impression determines typing? Why is the Hawaiian cat(meowth) evil but the one favored by criminals is a normal type?

On that note if we're saying dark types have to be evil or the name is the determining factor. Why is Absol a dark type? It warns people of catastrophes but it because humans have a bad impression of it it's a dark type???

The way some people take personal offense at the idea of imagining Luxray as Electric/Dark type is mind blowing to me like, they're not on gamefreak this isn't a public poll you ain't gotta take someone imagining something different so personal.
