@mrsdobbins_ 1st live birth was at age 26, last almost 40, and these 2 girls were nearly the same size. Pregnancy was easy, birth def easier, WAY easier on the last. If was 3 of the 4 in between that were harder births and a bit harder pregnancies due to their bigger size.

A fire was spreading in the community of a Christian man. There were two fire stations on opposite sides of the town he could call. Both fire chiefs were personally immoral and many found their personalities intolerable for different reasons.

The chief on the north side of town didn’t have the best equipment available, and while he was great on some points of fire prevention, he was weak on others. Overall, fires had gone down on his watch.

The chief on the south side of town had a terrible record with preventing and extinguishing fires. This was mostly due to the fact that she had a soft spot for arson and was more likely to hire known firebugs, pyromaniacs, and arsonists than she was to train and equip firefighters.

What was the Christian man to do? He loved his community and the people in it. The fire was spreading, and he had only two people he could realistically reach for help—one who would try to stop the fire and save some lives, but wouldn’t save them all, or the other who was just as likely to arrive spraying fuel and causing a greater loss of life.

Some of his Christian neighbors said he was compromising by calling either fire chief because both were immoral and neither would save all lives. The only righteous thing to do was to try to build a new fire station and find a really good fire chief to manage it in the future.

Others said, the outcome of the fire was up to God, so just pray and have nothing to do with making any call. God would either stop the fire or destroy the town as He saw fit.

Others said, there’s a good fire chief in Florida, so he should call that guy’s name. Of course, he couldn’t come, but at least he wouldn’t have dirtied his hands by calling a chief of lesser moral character and he’d be sending a message to the bad fire chiefs at the same time.

None of this made sense to the man. The fire was real, and God had given him a phone. His neighbors and family were real too. He certainly wished he had better options, but he was making a phone call, not an alliance.

So, out of love for God, his family, and fellow man, he prayed and made the only call he knew could possibly make any difference before he went out and did everything he could to help those he loved make it to safety.

For pro lifers, last night was a gut punch. No sugar coating it.

Giving up on the unborn is not an option. It's politically dumb and morally repugnant. Instead, we need to understand why we lost this battle so we can win the war.

I was very involved in the "no" campaign for issue 1, so let me share a few insights.

First, we got creamed among voters who disliked both Issue 1 and also Ohio's current law (heartbeat bill). We saw this consistently in polling and in conversations. "I don't like Issue 1, but I'd rather have that extreme than the other extreme." This is a political fact, not my opinion.

Second, we have to recognize how much voters mistrust us (meaning elected Republicans) on this issue. Having an unplanned pregnancy is scary. Best case, you're looking at social scorn and thousands of dollars of unexpected medical bills. We need people to see us as the pro-life party, not just the anti-abortion party.

Third, as Donald Trump has said, "you've got to have the exceptions." I am as pro life as anyone, and I want to save as many babies as possible. This is not about moral legitimacy but political reality. I've seen dozens of good polls on the abortion question in the last few months, many of them done in Ohio. Give people a choice between abortion restrictions very early in pregnancy with exceptions, or the pro choice position, and the pro life view has a fighting chance. Give people a heartbeat bill with no exceptions and it loses 65-35. (The reason we didn't lose 65-35 last night is that some people who hate "no exceptions" restrictions will still refuse to vote for things like Issue 1).

Fourth, we've spent so much time winning a legal argument on abortion that we've fallen behind on the moral argument. I talked to so many decent people who voted yes on Issue 1, and their reasons varied. Some described themselves as "pro life" but hated the lack of a rape exception in Ohio law. Some were worried that Ohio law would prevent them from addressing an ectopic pregnancy, or a late term miscarriage. Some didn't understand the "viability" standard in Issue 1, and thought that of course you should be able to abort a "non-viable" pregnancy as that would be a danger to the mother. You can criticize the propaganda effort on the other side for lying to people about these issues or confusing the populace, but it suggests we have to do a much better job of persuasion. And I'm not just talking about 30 second TV commercials--I'm talking about sustained, years long efforts to show the heart of the pro life movement.

Fifth, money. We got outspent big time on Issue 1, and across the country. Republicans are almost always outspent by Democrats. Relatedly, Democrats are better at turning out in off year elections. The national party should be focused on two, and only two issues: how to juice turnout in off year elections and how to close the finance gap with Democrats.

A lot of people put their heart and soul into this campaign. The local right to life organizations in Ohio, The Center for Christian Virtue, SBA, Governor Dewine, and so many others. I tip my hat to them.

A lot of people are celebrating right now, and I don't care about that. I do care about the fact that because we lost, many innocent children will never have a chance to live their dreams.

There is something sociopathic about a political movement that tells young women (and men) that it is liberating to murder their own children. So let's keep fighting for our country's children, and let's find a way to win.

It’s amazing that the most popular ticket in American history is considering stepping down both candidates for someone new months before the next election. I mean when you get more votes than any other ticket in the history of America it would be kind of hard to start over 4 years later.

If only there was a logical explanation as to how this is even possible. We all know that the election was the safest in history because the people who won told us that so it’s got to be something else.

I’m guessing whoever steps in next will get the most votes ever even more with zero campaign because that is entirely possible.

Here’s the official story so far: a random 20 year old acting completely alone walked within 150 yards of a presidential campaign rally with a rifle, climbed onto a rooftop in full view of Secret Service snipers, set up his shot and fired without anyone intervening and with no help from anyone. This 20 year old is also so politically radical as to attempt an assassination and yet not radical enough to have ever posted any political writings or commentary on any social media site ever in his life. He also wrote no manifesto and left behind no indication about why he did it. His last and only political act, before attempting to kill the Republican candidate, was to register as a Republican. You must believe this and ask no questions about it or else you are a conspiracy theorist. And one thing we know about assassination attempts is that there’s never any conspiring involved.

I’ve been torn on saying anything about the fact that women are serving on the president’s Secret Service team in the wake of this horrific incident, because it is admirable that they were willing to risk their lives. But regardless of how honorable their motives are, it is dishonorable for women to be intentionally put in a position where they would need to attempt to use their bodies to protect men.

Denying truth is how our country has gotten into the mess that it’s in, and this is yet another visible symbol of our irrational battle against biblical and biological reality. God created men with bodies that are bigger and stronger for obvious reasons, and denying that fact puts lives at risk.

The sight of well-trained men who have honed their bodies and skills to competently handle their role as protectors inspires confidence and a sense of security. We see them and are reassured by their presence. The sight of female agents on the other hand, even when doing the very best they can and being as brave as they can, automatically raises the question, “Why are they there?” Unless a person has been entirely reprogrammed by feminism or trans ideology, you instinctively know that a woman serving in this role isn’t right. It goes against nature and logic.

Men and women are not the same. We are not interchangeable. We are gloriously different and gifted with different strengths and roles. Women simply were not created to serve as a man’s shield, and it does not dishonor them to acknowledge that fact. It dishonors women to deny it.
