It’s official! @womens_PT membership votes in favor of changing the organization’s name to: Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy. Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and for all of the feedback you’ve provided over this 5-yr process!
Patient to me and my CI: “You both look tired. Have you had a long week? Do you need a nap? Jenny looks worse.”
........ I’m seeing a trend here 😂#clinicals#boards
Today I was studying and went up to purchase a hot tea and the cashier gave it to me for free. I must have looked awfully tired 😂 #blessyourheart#thelittlethings
So excited that our SR was published in JWHPT this week! We reviewed the current literature on the efficacy of manual therapy for dyspareunia in females, and here’s what we found. #pelvichealth@Duke_DPT https://t.co/6cLzdKoLvu
Doing an endometriosis resection on a patient with pelvic floor dysfunction without coming up with a postop pain/rehab plan is like giving someone a new hip or spine and not sending them to physical therapy. It’s not standard of care and shouldn’t be done. @Endometriosis
Stressful day then I had to call IT twice because of computer problems and after we finally fixed the issue the lady said “I want to thank you for all you do for our patients. It takes guts and commitment to be a provider, and it means a lot to all of us.” And that made my day
Today we had a pt come for pelvic PT with no symptoms but simply for prenatal wellness and education on body mechanics and activity. She left with lots of knowledge and a HEP that will help her have a safer, less painful pregnancy. One day this will be the norm! #preventativecare
First week of my women’s health rotation and.....I LOVE THIS! Never before have I left work/school feeling more energized than when I arrived. I am so thankful for every patient that lets me learn from them and for an amazing mentor! 🙏🏽 #dukedpt
“A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Diagnostic Accuracy of Head Shaking Induced Nystagmus and Vibration Induced Nystagmus in the Diagnosis of Unilateral Vestibular Hypofunction” by @DimarcoLindsay @stephanieigo92 et al #Dukestudents#classof2019#DukeatNCPTA#latergram
The more I read 📚 about pelvic conditions in the post partum 🤰🏼& post menopausal populations, the more I want to shout from the roof top🗣 “JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING IS COMMON DOESN’T MEAN THAT ITS NORMAL!”😩 #PelvicPT#TheMoreYouKnow@womens_PT#FreshPT#PelvicPTresidency
When everyone said clinicals would fly by, I didn’t believe them. But tomorrow is already the last day of my first long-term rotation and they were RIGHT! Bittersweet to leave new friends and awesome patients, but super excited to be one step closer to that #DPT!
PT friends: for those graduating in May, anyone have advice for deciding to take April vs July boards? My next two rotations are WH focused, so I’m thinking I will already need to put in a lot of outside studying on WH topics alone
