I am looking forward to a future in which the youngsters deride jokes about hating your job the same way we now roll our eyes at Boomer jokes about hating your wife.
@BethanyAllenEbr I recently visited a country that scored 97 on the freedom index. I attended a book launch. Everyone was chatting, laughing, complaining, engaging in serious discussions (about the government and other topics), *and not worried about who might be listening*. It really struck me.

@FY4Chan ... I thought everyone in HK did that daily. Wake up, sing the anthem, brush teeth, sing the anthem again, breakfast, anthem again (just to be sure), sing it lustily while walking to the MTR station, hum the tune while riding. Right?
I impulse-purchased a lovely little volume called "Postcards to a Young Unicorn" by Beate Sigriddaughter - it's something like a list of aphorisms - and would love to recommend it but I don't have enough Amazon purchase history to do so.
@chinarhyming Oh, wow! I sat next to him at a seminar last year and he described himself only as a retired lawyer; I got the impression he was some sort of academic. I suppose he was not ready to share his other opinions with a new acquaintance.
