@EmmaMAshford So the idea is to put western troops in Ukraine in order to stop a war launched to keep western troops put of Ukraine?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@ryanissnackpack @TylerHerrick I blame Russian interference.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@andrewmichta …and I’ll find a number of competing theories.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@dilanesper I agree there’s little point in paying more on short distance flights - once you’re in the air. The experience on the ground is still often quite different with budget airlines, and that can have quite an impact.

@LethaL_BaRs @Peter_Bukowski @DerySpeaks Or maybe just sucks not being put on the field?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@HoyasFan07 Which country fought _any_ war, successfully or otherwise, without that cohort?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@98RME @ProfPaulPoast Powerful enough to keep a nation together without oppression?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@EmmaMAshford Because after Afghanistan and (soon) Ukraine, we need a new feelgood story so how dare anyone state the bleeding obvious.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@HoyasFan07 Oman?

Since most countries in that part of the world aren’t really countries, but collections of groups sharing a more or less artificially created geographical area. As long as loyalties lie with tribes and clans, there won’t be any such thing as good for the country.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@HoyasFan07 Improved for whom?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@ProfPaulPoast Or deals have been made to carve it up already. Will quite likely end in tears; such arrangements usually do.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@HoyasFan07 But…we were told Russian escalation could only come in the form of nuclear weapons.

Not fair.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@elonmusk So no Top Gun III then.

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@HoyasFan07 Location, location, location?

Where should they be based instead?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@mattschneidman

@HoyasFan07 There are a number if things I find odd abut this conflict, but this is by fee the most bizarre. Why is Ukraine not drafting the age group that has made up the bulk of all military forces since, like, forever? What’s the rationale?

[Jens Nasstrom @jensnasstrom]

@HoyasFan07 You mean wars where the adversary can actually strike back at scale? Yeah, we forgot about those.
