@finlay_txt this is the first year I have been in town during pride for ages, rainbow parade yesterday had less corporates than I expected - plenty of sports teams, clubs etc. Community groups want somewhere to march/parade/mince !! 💃 such a shame that @AucklandPride abandoned that vision
is there any good reason why there is no pride march happening this year?
having a party in myers park doesn’t hit the same, feels like a lost opportunity. thinking back to 2018 there was a sense that without the corporate backing some sort of march/parade would not happen…
it would be a shame for that sort of thinking to be proven correct. i remain hopeful that one day a powerful, creative pride march can return to the center of the city.
@kendra_c__ there are four of them apparently, none of them have done it before, but they have a torch. not only is it a big maunga, it is unforgiving when the conditions change. i dont know how else to suggest they plan better, wind chill alone tomorrow night is meant to be -4c
nz chat - my flatmate (v new to nz) is planning to drive from akl > taranaki tmrrw, the Maunga from 10pm, to arrive at the summit and watch the sunrise … with no gear, in running shoes, no sleep, no mountaineering experience …. and thinks it it is a joke when I raise concerns?
why are conservative cookers more outraged at pronouns than they are about;
1 in 3 women in experiencing domestic violence
or
63% of sexual assaults perpetrated by someone who the survivor knew
or
26% of sexual assaults were perpetrated by a family member of the survivor
