The 30th running of Alberta Breeders’ Fall Classic returns to @cntymile Racetrack and Casino on Saturday, September 12th, putting Alberta-bred Thoroughbreds in the spotlight and celebrating the breeders and owners who help build Alberta’s racing industry.

Quarter Horses will be featured also with the $60,000 Canada Cup (RG3) Futurity and $30,000 Canada Cup Derby showcasing some of the best Quarter Horses in the region.

The celebration includes an Alberta Made Market featuring more than 30 local businesses for attendees to shop.

Relive the excitement of the 97th Running of the Canadian Derby. 🇨🇦

It was Quarry and jockey Damario Bynoe capturing the $200,000 Grade 3 Canadian Derby race by a half-length over a driving Big Curl.

Quarry, a three-year-old gelding by War of Will out of Black Dynamite, was bred in Kentucky by @claibornefarm.

The win marked a first Canadian Derby victory for trainer Jerry Gourneau, the five-time leading trainer at @AssiniboiaDowns in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and a major win for owner Henry S. Witt, Jr., who has claimed the Assiniboia Downs leading owner title for seven consecutive years.
