I haven’t been on here much these days but I couldn’t let #KidLitAgentWeek pass by without thanking the incomparable @aarice31! Thank you for always being in my corner and knowing exactly how to elevate every story. I feel so lucky to be able to work with you!
Indirectly me: I was working an event in Central Park and my husband was carrying about 10 boxes of pizza for me. He walked right past Yoko Ono at Strawberry Fields while carrying the pizza.
Me: Billy Crudup took my cab after I got out
Hey, #AskMentor ! I sometimes feel alone as a YA author not doing SFF/horror/hist. Are you open to YA authors writing about teens living and loving in a confusing, contemp world that's full of rep and angst and confusion in equal measure? (Even though I'm middle-aged and white?)
YA is typically written in first person but I have read some outstanding YA in 3rd. Personally I’m open to any POV as long as it works for the story/characters. #AskMentor#AMMR9
For me, if the stakes aren’t clear in the query it would be a likely pass. But I always read the first ten pages even if I’m unsure about the query. Queries are hard to write! #AskMentor#AMMR9
