💕To end the semester, my class is examining therapist portrayals in pop culture. I’ve rewatched scenes from Good Will Hunting and this, I argue….is as good as it gets. 😭. https://t.co/6uxb4BaHWG
Every kid should learn that humility and kindness aren't signs of weakness. They're strengths of character.
Recognizing your faults doesn't mean you lack self-esteem. It shows you have self-awareness.
Showing compassion doesn't mean you lack backbone. It shows you have heart.
“if we are truly going to resolve the mental health crisis that we face, we will need a political revolution that creates a society based on justice, compassion, human solidarity and a growing sense of community” 👏 👏 https://t.co/EhIA7xxgEO

Not sure the reason behind this but it’s part of the greater trend in medicine of stomping out creativity. Medicine values standardization/protocols/templates. Couple that with 70+ hr wks & we lose the time & energy for creative pursuits. We need to nurture creativity in medicine
In my 10+ years of co-survivorship, doing life with @DGlaucomflecken through 2 separate cancers, 1 SCA and fighting off his death with 10 mins of #CPR, only ONE (1) of the medical professionals we interacted with has ever asked how I was doing. Meet Roger. https://t.co/NR4F2mkcZC
Let's be clear. Eli Lilly should apologize for increasing the price of insulin by over 1,200% since 1996 to $275 while it costs less than $10 to manufacture. The inventors of insulin sold their patents in 1923 for $1 to save lives, not to make Eli Lilly's CEO obscenely rich.
Suicide Screening in Adolescents
Do not wait for "EBM" on this one, we will have same lame guidelines for a while ("not enough evidence to support/reject screening")
It's common sense, easy, & EVERY health care professional should do it for EVERY adolescent they see.

I wish I could offer interviews to every. single. applicant. Trying to stay present and breathe. I am so grateful for so many amazing people applying into psychiatry. The future of our field is 🔥.
