@criimsu ugh yeah same, I feel like 95% of advice out there is catered to complete beginners so it's not helpful to me anymore and it's tough finding that 5%.

what im doing rn is finding artists whose styles i like and to imitating their workflows

any tips on how to improve, as a self-taught artist, when you're not a newbie but you're not an expert either so you don't know how to proceed from there? i've been racking my brain trying to figure out the next step but im completely lost and paralyzed

Like you don’t need to know how to program Minecraft from scratch in order to play Minecraft.

Similarly you don’t need to study every muscle name to become good at anime anatomy. Find anime illustration references you like and take some general cues from real life.

Specifically for anime style art: you can practice anime style anatomy without studying real anatomy.

Anime anatomy follows its own rules. Like yes, anime anatomy is based on real anatomy, but it’s so stylized that memorizing real anatomy is overkill.

My goal is to get good at drawing before my oshis graduate.

So no I don’t have “the rest of my life to continue improving” or whatever, I have maybe 2-3 years left at best. After that I’m basically quitting art.

@Toasted_Shos @Sobbi11 yeah doing doodles at the same time as big pieces is a really good strat, you get the best of both while only spending a little extra time on drawing
