I recently heard some ask: why can a convicted felon run for president, but one can't vote? I believe that the drafters of the constitution couldn't imagine that any party would nominate a convicted felon, so they thought it was not necessary to add a prohibition.

@ScottyJ54 It was a joint effort to pass the legislation for #juneteenth. Members of the the Democratic Party were unanimous in their support, however, if it had been up to many Republicans, it would not have happened. I'm not certain that it would have passed under a Republican admin.
