Ignacio Anaya, inventor of nachos (in 1940), dies in Piedras Negras, Mexico. He was 80.
Anaya created nachos when a group of U.S. Army servicemen walked into his restaurant and he had nothing to serve them, so he grated cheese and threw ground meat and jalapeño atop tortilla chips.
In Spanish, “Nacho” is a nickname for “Ignacio.”
Bucs LB Lavonte David got flagged for pass interference in Sunday's win. Notable only for how rare it is -- David has had 15 accepted penalties in his 14 NFL seasons, never more than two in any year. Over an entire career, it's one flag for every 880 defensive snaps played.
