His name shall be called Emmanuel, which means “God with us.” This is one of the most precious proclamations in God’s Word; God is with us. He is right here, among us, loving us, leading us, protecting us, providing for our needs. He will never leave or forsake us. He is here!
Christ needs people who have confessed Him as Lord, taken up their cross and followed Him, and are taking a bold stand for the truth of the gospel. This world is opposed to that truth but we must stand firm in our faith in the power of Christ who lives in us!
God rested from His creation work? Was He tired and worn out? No! He knew that you and I would become tired and worn out so He showed us how important rest was. He will give us rest. “Come unto Me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest!”
“I can’t do that,” I whine, “It’s too hard, it’s impossible!” We use that as an excuse for not doing what God commands us to do. Here’s the problem: we are probably telling the truth if we are not depending on the power of God working in us! Trust God: He won’t let you down!
Kindness and generosity, especially when shown to the poor, is important to the Lord: it’s one way He chooses to meet their needs. So be kind and generous to the poor and needy knowing that it pleases your Heavenly Father!
Who wants to live life to its fullest? Who wants to live forever in a place where there is no evil, no sadness, no death? Well, there is a way, only one way, to accomplish this. Give your life to Jesus; let Him have total control. Live for Him today and with Him forevermore!
Today is Independence Day; we celebrate our country’s freedom. True freedom, however, is a gift of God to every person who has placed faith in Jesus. God calls us to use our freedom to serve others in love rather than to pursue the fleeting pleasures of this world.
God’s true children, those who have placed saving faith in Jesus, will live a life marked by peace with everyone and holiness. This life can only be lived yielded to the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit!
The Lord has always been and will always be. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the rock that you can build and live your life on and no storm can ever sweep you away. Trust in the Lord, He is worthy of your trust, love and devotion!
In a fallen, sinful world, how is a Christian to live. Rejoice in the hope we have in the promises of Jesus. Be patient when suffering affliction because God uses it to grow us to be more like Jesus. Be persistent in prayer knowing that God is faithful to hear and answer.
No where in God’s Word do I find more challenging words than those of Jesus recorded here in Luke. When I encounter people like this, my natural response is to curse and mistreat them back. The only way I can bless and pray for them is if I am totally yielded to the Holy Spirit.
Peace can be an elusive thing, especially if you are trying to be at peace in and of yourself. However, if you put your trust in God, He will give you the peace that passes all understanding and you can lie down and sleep in peace!
I bought a microwave egg cooker; it didn’t cook eggs; worthless. We were created for good works which God prepared for us to do. Are you fulfilling your purpose or are you like my egg cooker? Are you doing what God prepared for you to do in the power of the Holy Spirit?
No one is able to resist the devil in their own power. That’s why James tells us exactly how it’s done. First, submit to God, in prayer, in study of His Word, in obedience to His Word in following the leadership of the Holy Spirit; then resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Look up! Have you ever missed something important because you were looking down instead of looking up? Well, to live for Jesus and His kingdom you must set your mind on His kingdom and His Word rather than the things this world has to offer. Turn your eyes upon Jesus!
Things happen in life to all of us. They break our hearts and feel as if they are going to crush us. In times like these, God draws so near to you that you can feel His Spirit giving comfort to your very soul! God is always closer to you than you can imagine!
We suffer: our health fails, our finances go haywire, our vehicles break down, treasured family and friends die, and the list goes on. But, as much loved children of God, nothing we suffer on this earth compares to the glory that God will reveal to us when He returns!
There is a lack of justice and righteousness in our world today. It’s like the Bible says, “everyone does what is right in their mind.” There is coming a day when the Lord will return and set all things right and the prophecy of Amos will be fulfilled. Come Lord Jesus, come!
We chase the dream; of wealth, possessions, career, health, recreation, and the list goes on. In the time left, we give some to God and His kingdom. That’s exactly backwards of how God wants, even commands, it to be. Seek Him first and He’ll provide for you!
Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers out there. We have the ultimate example of what a father should be in our Heavenly Father. He is a kind, compassionate Father to all His children. He loves them with an everlasting love. Ask God today to give you a kind, compassionate heart!
