I find that discrimination hurts more when it's less direct.
Call me a bundle of sticks, I don't care.
But what really hurts is when people actively ignore me, distrust me but trust my white friends, leave me till last constantly, exclude me from conversations etc.
I think this stems from my chronic people pleasing and not wanting people to go out of their way for me.
Also not wanting to come across as an ignorant tourist but really I just look pathetic (and not in a Tenna pathetic-hot kinda way)
and like so many Italians speak English so it shouldn't be an issue. But I just feel so weird when they have to speak to me in their non-native language
