@tlloydcline@Hale_Institute Excellent episode! I studied under Paul Conklin at Vanderbilt as well. Loved Richard and picking up his book. The Thomas Paine stuff was surprising.
@AN1Guitarman@RyanHurst171 Many of the Reformed Scholastics were well versed in Aquinus. I would imagine something along the lines a bit stronger than “it may.” More like we assume it does
@AN1Guitarman@RyanHurst171 Common grace is rain on the just and unjust and living in a Christian land with Christian parents. Special grace is the Holy Spirit awakening your soul to long for Him.
@AN1Guitarman@RyanHurst171 Common grace is for everyone, special unconditional grace is for the unique bride of Christ. The Bride of Christ is revealed through history as God ordains the means of salvation for that Bride. Baptism, faith, works of love, prayers, & experiences of power all work together
@AN1Guitarman@RyanHurst171 You are asking two different questions. One about assurance and one about baptismal efficiency in someone else. Protestant theology factors these in based on Christ’s finished work not a system of sacramental grace based on apostolic succession.
@AN1Guitarman@RyanHurst171 The assurance of salvation is also a grace. Its all grace from first to last. Each grace builds upon others. An individual can have a grace and know that grace and assurance. For other people, you presume on grace by way of their endurance in that grace.
