I'm making Robotaxi Tracker the most streamlined way to stay on top of what's happening with AVs. Recent map features:
- CCTV feed in Austin to track Waymos
- Austin/Bay area live/historical wait time data now including Waymo
- See and filter upcoming AV deployments across the world from Waymo and Tesla
Summoned my first @Tesla@robotaxi in Bay Area — particularly enjoyed the UI and “Find Pickup” function utilizing @Apple’s Ultra Wideband chip for precision finding of direction and distance (very important human-machine interaction for the PuDo with driverless fleet)
Clean and driverless-oriented UI
Generous waiting time for pick-up (7min)
Best part is the #robotaxi services profile is in sync with one’s Tesla profile (including music and media log-ins etc.)
Really cool UI! Wait time is still a bit long but according to @ethanmckanna’s Robotaxi Tracker, @Tesla has now registered 1,655 vehicles for the Bay Area fleet and 152 active vehicles (currently human supervised)
NVIDIA Alpamayo is the first open ecosystem for developing reasoning vision-language-action (VLA) models for autonomous vehicles.
Alpamayo 1, AlpaSim, and Physical AI Open Datasets help AVs perceive, reason, and act with human-like judgment, paving the way for level 4 autonomy.
At #CoMotionGLOBAL25, mayors, founders, and innovators came together at a pivotal moment for the future of cities 🌍🚆🚗
Highlights included the debut of the Mayors in Motion initiative (driven by @MauricioRodasEC), the @MIT x @kearney AI mobility report, landmark MOUs advancing autonomous ride-hailing and electric air taxis, and a private tour of the Riyadh Metro, the world’s longest driverless system, with @RCRCSA.
Keynotes from H.E. @Fahd_Al_Rasheed (@scega_sa) & H.E. Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih (@SaudiTransport) outlined Saudi Arabia’s ambition to become a global hub for next-generation mobility, built on sustainability, innovation, and international collaboration.
🇸🇦 Powered by Vision 2030, Riyadh is rapidly emerging as a global center for the future of transportation.

Some quick takeaways from IAA Mobility:
https://t.co/iWI2NwmmtB is the new luxury. AITO framed itself as premium through intelligence, not leather. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride platform was positioned like a luxury product. BMW and Mercedes showcased digital cockpits as status symbols.
2.From engines to compute. Combustion was about horsepower. EVs elevated CATL and Gotion as essential global suppliers. Now the software-defined era is spotlighting companies like Horizon Robotics and Momenta, who are shaping how intelligence becomes the new differentiator.
3.Iteration as an advantage. Xpeng demonstrated how quickly Chinese OEMs can cycle through versions. Customers in that market are willing to tolerate experiments, which accelerates progress. The iteration speed here contrasts with more cautious approaches elsewhere.
4.Collaboration and competition. Friends and Frenemies—all present in Munich—show how partnerships and rivalries increasingly overlap. The industry map is shifting constantly. Truly exciting times.
5.Multi-modality on display. Xpeng’s humanoid demo and GAC’s eVTOL concept showed how mobility companies are moving beyond cars. Hyundai’s Supernal reinforced that this shift is being taken seriously on both sides of the globe.
6.The missing giants. Tesla and BYD had no exhibition booths. Both are moving closer to a direct-to-consumer model. Is this the future of automotive and mobility—where the world’s biggest players no longer “show” in order to sell?
7.Not a zero-sum game! CATL, BYD, LG both gain global ground. Nvidia Horizon and Momenta both advance. Bosch remains deeply embedded. The pie keeps expanding.
I’ll be sharing deeper takes in the next few days on companies the world is still sleeping on.

In this week's CoMotion Deep Dive, I spoke with @JerryHeMoves about the future of robotaxis. He believes by 2030 they'll be 1/4 as expensive as Uber is today. If he's right, that is earth-shattering. It would allow millions of Americans to ditch personal vehicle ownership. 1/
Waymo is teaming up with @BCCcuny, @CityCollegeNY, and @UTRCRegion2 to bring the future of automotive engineering to the classroom!
Students at BCC's Automotive Technology Program will soon be equipped with the skills needed to become expert technicians in the AV field.
UTRC partners with @Waymo to develop autonomous vehicle training curriculum at @BCCcuny's Auto Tech Program. Our initiative will prepare the next generation of automotive technicians for the rapidly evolving AV industry.
