@ericcoreyfreed Just goes to show that architecture, like every profession, is a social endeavor and tends to reflect society's views at any given time. Early 20th century white/European males were by and large as racist in their thinking as the society they worked in.
Did you celebrate #WorldBookDay on the weekend with your favourite book? This one by Peter Wohlleben “The Hidden Life Of Trees” is a book we value as it reminds us how really valuable and brilliant our eco-systems are #biodiversity#trees

@lloydalter@guardian No one technology is a panacea. Where I live, San Diego area has highest electricity rates in the country, higher than Hawaii, nearly $0.60/kWh on peak. But with a mild climate, there's little A/C req/d (near the coast.) Using electricity for heating would be hideously expensive!
@JaneFriedman And the corollary is...most memoirs don't sell well! So there is no need to worry about a second (or third) memoir. One life story or key incident, well told, is enough for most people.
@ericcoreyfreed and the bigger issue is that, unlike energy, new #water can't be manufactured (very easily or cheaply). Water solutions in the West often take decades to implement. Solutions are in my 2011 #book, "Dry Run: Preventing the Next Urban Water Crisis" @NewSocietyPub.
Day 23 - We have now exceeded the 5th (of 9) planetary boundary (novel entities). Fossil fuel plastics are one reason for us exceeding this boundary. Yet another reminder of the need to #Livebetterwithless. We live on a finite planet, not a fantasy planet of infinite resources.
Day 9 - 1/5th of all humans live in regions that have already seen warming >1.5°C. At 1.5°C warming `14% of Earth’s population will be exposed to severe heatwaves at least once every 5 yrs. At 2°C warming that jumps to 37%. Can we learn to #livebetterwithless to slow this change?
2022 will be one of the hottest on record, with average global temperatures about 1.96 degrees Fahrenheit over pre-industrial averages

@ericcoreyfreed@washingtonpost The glass is half-full, as always, but the situation is dire. We're heading blindfolded toward massive discontinuities while we argue about who is "woke" enough.
I know everyone is disappointed in the lackluster outcome of #COP26 but in context with the media coverage and passage of the Infrastructure Bill, perhaps there are some exciting developments?
@washingtonpost with a nice recap:
