Did you wake up this morning wondering what would happen if a video game character came back from maternity leave? Excellent. You can read my story to find out. Thanks to @funny_pearls for publishing it! #shortstories#MotherhoodUnplugged https://t.co/xL4ssZdB88
Time for another #litoutfit , my quest to match great books with fun outfits. Here's FRIDAY NIGHT WRESTLE FEST, by @bookishfox & @micahplayer , a bedtime book with some WWE charm with fantastic wrestling costumes and hilarious wrestling moves. #pblit#kidlit
I had a great time with the kids at the library with our own hunt with clues after reading AGENT LION & THE MISSING PARTY by @BlackPolkaDotJD Elementary schoolers are very serious investigators. #pblit#kidlit
@JoSVolpe @literaticat I know a lot of librarians who have also had difficulty with reading new books during the pandemic (which makes it difficult for us to suggest all the new great books out there to younger patrons.) I hadn't even thought how that same thing is probably happening to agents too.
@ericsmithrocks I once heard of an author who would talk about their book in third person when it went out on submission to get some emotional distance. I.e. "Melanie is out with editors." So, if the book got rejected it didn't sting as much.
Here's another #litoutfit for @LauraResau 's Tree of Dreams, a story that journeys into the Amazonian jungle and into the heart...with chocolate. A thoughtful story about the impact of oil drilling on Indigenous peoples. @Scholastic#kidlit#mglit#mustread
@jess_spotswood Oh, I miss Shut Up & Write too. It's going to be weird not being at library events... I was invited to read at an outdoor reading for the book Written in Arlington last week, and it felt like Christmas being around the writing community again.
@jess_spotswood The lack of book events does hurt. All those chance encounters with Kidlit people are gone and online events don't really have that. :(
Had a blast reading poetry at the Lubber Run Amphitheater in honor of the book, Written in Arlington. A great treat to hear so many wonderful poems in the crisp night air.
Today for #litoutfit my quest to match great #kidlit books with fun outfits, here is @BenHatke 's Nobody likes a Goblin. Goblin's adventures is a great favorite of my daughter and she always shouts, "more goblins!" When we get to the appropriate page. @01firstsecond
Here's another of my #litoutfits for Me, Frida and The Secret of the Peacock Ring by @AngelaCervantes, a cool mystery about Frida Kahlo's missing jewelry. #mglit#kidlit
