Jess

Obviously I don't use twitter/x much these days. I may jump over to another site, but for now, it's best to contact me via email.

@womenknowintel This looks like an amazing PhD opportunity worth signal boosting!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jgmaber Absolutely, a fascinating read!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jsargentr Not sure I have the fortitude for that! Next they'd start on the powepoints!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jamcjo Somewhat concerned about how recently you took that picture given the use by dates!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jamcjo If only we taxed coke like we do sugar... 👀

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jamcjo Now if only the American/int'l import shops didn't charge so much! 😁 I miss the days when I could pop into any store to buy a ting, sprite, or even occasional dr pepper. Speaking of, if you've not had the chance try a Mr. Pibb, it'd be interesting to see how you compare the two!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jamcjo Too many flavoured fizzy waters here with sweeteners in the UK!

I get this borders on peak American here, but I do miss being able to get basic store brand flavoured water without sweeteners in cans. I just want my orange or grapefruit fake la croix... 😭

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@jamcjo Some people (including me) really just like carbonation!

If artificial sweeteners are a migraine trigger (or you can't stand the taste) then you're now stuck with coca cola, pepsi, and whatever few expensive sodas remain that haven't caved to the UK sugar tax.

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@mikemagcamit @ukhomeoffice That's awful and of course they don't list a timeframe for receiving the replacement BRP visa!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@MysteriousDrBex I am, thanks! 😀

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@DrHDexter Always check the tables wheels are locked first!

(learned by pulling the awkward lean, table roll, and stand like "I meant to do that honest!" maneuver too many times to count)

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@the_tweedy If automatic, if possible, learn to drive with the other foot so you can switch out if needed.

Where possible, cruise control is so helpful to get a break, even if to just change positions briefly.

(Repeated subluxations and sprains in high school made both a necessity for me.)

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@JennyfilmDr The Graduate Kitchen! Angry, but not surprised as this is the way things seem to be going...

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@Ca_Cartmell Are there any particular time periods or locations you have in mind? I'd second Open Secret (Stella Rimington) and also add Circle of Treason (Grimes and Vertefeuille) and Chief of Station (Larry Devlin) https://t.co/qV4SkZ4St8

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@foreknowledge1 And I think your point about culture and actions is an important one to make!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@foreknowledge1 Thanks for attending! I wish I could claim credit for "glass box" but it is a borrowed term. I think there's more in the way of useful discussions to be had on this boxing in, especially because breaking down organisation & gender barriers on one's own can be so challenging.

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@lmeysenqcruz Sure, you are welcome to send me a direct message!

[Jess @jess_shahan]

@SteveCooke Same, hope you recover quickly!
