Before I begin, I want you guys to remember that The Loyal Pin takes place in 1950’ Thailand. Any behaviors or expectations that feel outdated today are the result of the historical context, not a reflection of how we view relationships now.

I will not be analyzing every love scene. I watched through all of them this afternoon and selected the ones that best support the argument I want to make regarding their queer intimacy dynamic. These include key turning points such as their first time together, Anil’s return, and the punishment scene.

Unlike my GAP analysis, where I broke down every scene first and then explained Khun Sam and Mon’s Solo dynamic at the end, I am starting here by establishing the solo dynamic between Anil and Pin. I will then refer back to it as I discuss specific scenes, and finally offer a full conclusion at the end. (1/8)

Honestly, it feels like our fandom is tearing itself apart, and it's heartbreaking. 💔

Some of us, we fell in love with FreenBecky as a ship. We saw that connection and it captivated us. We stuck with them even after D-day. That's our story. Others are solo, and some discovered them later, through PFW, Met Gala, Cannes, or their solo movies. Both are valid ways to become a fan, right?

But now, with them leaving IDF, there's this huge wave of anxiety, especially to those who built the fandom around their partnership. And what happens when these fans voice that anxiety? Some get shamed. Some get policed. Told to shut up, just for asking for a little bit of reassurance about the very thing that brought us here in the first place. That's just... it's too much. That's not fair. That hurts. (To these fans please wait a bit maybe FB will announce it soon 🙏🏻)

I get it, I really do, that FreenBecky want to focus on their solo careers. And that's fine for some. But we have to accept that not everyone is here just for their solo work. For me, their couple work was my first love. Of course, I’ll still support their solo projects, and I’m not leaving. I’m not moving to another fandom either.

But to tell people to just leave the fandom because they're seeking a little comfort? After everything some of these fans have done? All the defending from troll/haters, the endless voting, the support during FW or Cannes? They're not asking for much, just a simple acknowledgment, a little bit of understanding. We're all human. We all cope with change and disappointment differently. Not everyone has the same emotional bandwidth. We need to remember that. If we keep attacking each other, tearing each other down, we're just going to stay divided, we will never heal. We have to find a way to be kinder, more understanding, or we'll lose what made this fandom special in the first place. 🤍☮️
