UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin has reportedly posted a video explaining why he did not attend the FIFA World Cup final. In the video, he said his absence was due to a dispute with FIFA President Gianni Infantino over the suspension of U.S. forward Folarin Balogun following his red card.
Čeferin also reportedly criticized the standard of refereeing throughout the tournament, claiming that Argentina received favorable treatment—particularly during their match against Egypt. He allegedly described the officiating as the most biased he had ever witnessed and stated that he would boycott FIFA and no longer have anything to do with the organization.
Gianni Infantino drafted a plan for Uefa to leave Fifa when he worked at the governing body. Now Uefa want to use it against him as his plan to sell a stake in the World Cup collapses.
