@MikeStorm77 It’s on Twitch to prove to DJs this is a net win and we will be doing everything we can to make it a success. Doing our best to communicate as clearly as possible and more details coming. Keep the feedback coming - we are committed to making this work
@MikeStorm77 The revenue share is not 50%. We are prohibited from sharing the exact rates but the subsidy program guarantees DJs will be able to see and forecast the impact without any immediate change in $
@MikeStorm77 Agree it is complicated and not a perfect solution, but the only way for DJs to have a safe space to stream. It was a massive effort to get this in place, and a big bet by Twitch that DJs can have a much bigger impact. Ty for keeping an open mind.
@SimonWakefield@AelaMusic@xxTKATxx@SWAGEsound@Twitch And if you have licenses to stream the music you stream, you aren’t required to opt-in. We aren’t stopping anyone from playing music they have rights to, just covering the vast majority of stuff that has been traditionally very difficult to get legal access to
@SimonWakefield@AelaMusic@xxTKATxx@SWAGEsound@Twitch And we’ll be doing everything we can to make it a success. It’s on Twitch to prove to DJs that this program is a net win. We’ll have more details coming through over the next few weeks. Thanks for keeping an open mind!
@SimonWakefield@AelaMusic@xxTKATxx@SWAGEsound@Twitch We’re working on making that overlap as seamless as possible. Not a perfect solution but a start. And are doing our best to communicate all of it as clearly as possible! Complicated, for sure, but big picture is we are making a big bet on DJs bc they are so important to Twitch
@CurlyFrydPotato It’s ridiculously complicated, no question. And bc it is new, the burden on us to explain & communicate the details. Will share anything & everything we are contractually allowed to share always!
@CurlyFrydPotato@Aliquem It’s up to Twitch to prove to DJs that this program is a net win. Totally get the concerns & we are doing everything we can to communicate! Big picture: Twitch is making a big bet on DJs and we are committed to making this work bc the community is very important to us.
@CurlyFrydPotato@Aliquem No one will be charged more than they make. It’s an earnings share % that will vary slightly based on how a channel monetizes & we are prohibited from sharing the exact rates. Subsidy program guarantees DJs will be able to forecast / see this impact in advance of any changes to $
some really, really intense legal, technical, and negotiating prowess went into figuring this out
to be honest I’m stunned and impressed that @Twitch is the first to figure out revenue sharing with the labels (for live performances)
excited to see it play out
@michaelmcnevin@thedjbrisk Access to the catalog just makes clear what is covered in our agreements with music companies. You can play whatever songs you have the rights to - that will not be limited by this program.
