#refugeehs A64 As a government official I will make sure before allowing refugees in I will do a criminal record check and always have border control when a bunch of refugees are coming in at once, I will make sure that they will get a citizenship as well.
#refugeehs A60 I think he wanted them to help them and hear them because the refugees were getting discriminated the whole book. The incident with the tourist on the boat and now people booing them from passing car's, Mahmoud wanted to show that they were not invisible anymore.
@EthanD_seh Didn't you think The Refugee's stories were ending with happy endings? Such as Isabel getting to Cuba and living happy, also Mahmoud made it to Germany and is now living happily. Aside from Josef's story the other two had a happy ending.#refugeehs
#refugeehs A63 I don't think any of today's world issues could be compared to the ones back in the day, especially Josef's story as WW2 was one of the worst disasters and worst discrimination war towards others in human history it was extremely rough for the Jews.
#refugeehs A62 I didn't expect the book to end this way, I would have thought it wouldn't end in such a happy way for Mahmoud and Isabel's side I thought they would have lost more. I definitely would have wanted to see Ruthie's journey after Josef and her mom got taken away.
#refugeehs A61 I think Mahmoud's father makes jokes like this in the dark and frightening times because he is trying to lighten the mood, as everyone is sad and stressed out at that moment, I know some people in my family that try to lighten my mood in times like this.
@EthanD_seh#refugeehs Don't you think Mahmoud's dad has changed ever since he got beat by that police officer? Also, Mahmoud's mother has been fazed ever since Mahmoud gave away Hana and Waleed has seen broken since the beginning, so don't you think their whole family is broken inside?
#refugeehs A59 I don't know what I would do in a situation like this, I don't think I would be able to make a decision like this where two of my young kid's which were my only family I had left one of them was gonna be taken away. It Would be the toughest decision for me.
#refugeehs A56 I think the birth of the new child is symbolic for two things. It is symbolic for the fact that they are almost there and since they need to push the baby out they have to push the boat to freedom and never give up. This could also be symbolic for Isabel's song.
#refugeehs A58 I think @AlanGratz did a great job on connecting all three of these refugee families at the end, it creates suspense in the book and causes the three stories to get more intense and causes the refugees to show their true determination I think they will all make it.
#refugeehs A57 I think Mahmoud is less broken by all of this as he is used to getting the broken and worn out feeling like this in Syria where he has to be invisible (Gratz 12) his family has a lighter and more positive mood though such as his dad always making jokes.
#refugeehs A55 The fate of the refugees intertwined when Isabel and her family was able to see how far they were from freedom and so close to being caught, he remembered how Josef and his family went through the same thing (Gratz 276) This shows a lot of connection in the story.
@EthanD_seh Don't you think Josef is in the worst scenario? Josef now lost his father in Cuba and is now going to who knows where, Mahmoud's in a bad scenario but I think Josef is in a one where it will be really hard to get out of. #refugeehs
