Harris’s antelope ground squirrel prefers rocky desert habitats with plenty of cacti and shrubs. They rest in the shade until their body has cooled off, until then, they will stay out in the heat collecting food until their body reaches its maximum temperature. 🐿️

What I love about black and white photography is not only the focus on texture and contrast, but the fact that it’s totally up to the viewer to imagine what the original colors were like in person.

For most of the year, the ocotillo’ appear to be “dead” but are most of the time dormant. They appear lifeless until they receive adequate moisture from rain. Once this happens, a healthy ocotillo will begin to sprout green leaves; 🍃 just be sure to avoid their spikes 😬
Enjoy these beautiful landscapes captured in sunny Tucson, Arizona 🌵☀️ Here we see a multitude of all types of cacti. From ocotillo’ to saguaro’, prickly pear’ to cholla’, there’s plenty of color when it comes to this desert. 🏜️
