@SethJPierce My parents were dead against LOTR growing up, then when I finally convinced them to let me read the books they told me that if I wanted to watch the films, theyโd watch them first. I still remember them watching them behind closed doors, then emerging absolutely loving the films
@SethJPierce Iโve always thought it strange that when kids reach a certain age, almost inevitably the joy and active participation in worship dies. Itโs like weโve unconsciously communicated that when you reach a certain age, being joyful and active is inappropriate.
It's April 1. President Xi of China holds a press conference, revealing COVID-19 was just an elaborate April Fools' joke. Confetti falls, music plays, neon signs flash 'gotcha!' to a silent, dead-eyed crowd.
Donโt get me wrong, I know itโs almost impossible to do satire without getting political at some point, but it does seem waaay too partisan these days. I havenโt found a single post making fun of Trump but plenty taking the mickey out of dems, the LGBT community, and millennials.
Is it just me, or has @TheBabylonBee become WAY more politically conservative over the past few years? I understand Christianity = fundamentalist evangelicism for many, but half their posts seem to be dedicated to making fun of liberals and Democrats than actual Christian satire.
