@KawaiiChan9087 I think she did it in NCAA in 2024 too? She didn’t compete floor very many times that year but the few times she did, she did a two pass routine with the Chuso as her first pass.
@AlisonRFoster@kmkeirns Coming back to elite after 10+ years is likely daunting enough without also being the biggest news story. Next year Ohashi will be old news & everyone will be focused on Suni and whoever else is coming back. If she hits, even with lower difficulty, it’s likely good for confidence
@AlisonRFoster@kmkeirns I wonder if the media attention she got contributed to the nerves? I think there’s probably something to be said for getting the “first time back to competition” media stories out of the way in a year when the stakes are low, especially for someone like Chellsie or Katelyn.
@laurenhopkinsss Yes, I checked MetroNorth plus CTRail. So it’s more than one train, I don’t remember the specifics of timing right now. I’d be doing it alone and just doesn’t seem worth it. (YMMV, I have a toddler and would be hard on my husband to be away all Saturday and exhausted on Sunday).
@laurenhopkinsss I tried to figure out if it’s doable to take the train round trip in one day and it is maybe doable but seems very unpleasant. Would get back to NYC well after midnight and just…yea. I’m going to skip it. Don’t want to have to drive back alone late either.
@FrancisPSantora@ycinnewyork They have huge alumni networks that donate tons of cash to subsidize a lot of “extras.” At least Stuy does, I don’t personally know any Bronx Science alums.
@MegKeene I know right? It’s weird. I am glad I ended up with the person I ended up with but I invited no less than three exes to our wedding. He invited one. I was a bridesmaid in an ex’s wedding (both HS friends, I was close to the bride). We can be friends with those who aren’t right.
@kmkeirns@hanya_zhang@AdexatNight I hope the FIG updates the quotas for next quad. In the Paris quad, PAGU won 10 of 12 WAG AA medals and 6 of 9 team medals including all but 1 gold, way over performing their quotas. Yes, there were no Russians so it is a little inflated but even so.
@Romy_Holland Also I’ve been to a minimum of 2 countries in each of B-E (most much more than 2) and 0 countries in A so def would take the chance to go to new (very expensive) places!
@daniela__127@notthechips I think that Lander has a lot of appeal in NY-10. It’s brownstone Brooklyn and Manhattan below 14th which is more affluent solidly liberal white people than strong DSA territory.
@LinkofSunshine I mean we could get closer to it if we tore down the old walk up tenements that are still providing most of the housing in the neighborhood and built modern high rise elevator buildings instead. The LES then was both dense & overcrowded but dense doesn’t have to mean overcrowded
@LilyManshel@k_vanvoorhees@AsadFromNYC I met him at a fundraiser once years ago and didn’t immediately recognize him. He came up to me and introduced himself as “Brad.” Took ages for him to mention he was a city council member, probably after I asked what he did.
@JaxsBeachLife To be honest it’s be a really long time since I have had any reason that I wouldn’t be able to pass a drug test BUT I probably don’t want to work for an employer that would make me take one (assuming not for something like working as a pilot). ESPECIALLY for weed.
@kitschburgh@CoraCHarrington@cat4hurricane It’s a license that acts like a passport card but it’s only available in a handful of northern border states, like NY and WA. Most people don’t have access to an enhanced DL.
@uncriticalsimon@felonybeard@sam_d_1995 I think that Trader Joe’s probably does have national pricing or some approximation of it but it doesn’t have everything you would need. It focuses on mostly own-brand and doesn’t carry as much as a typical store. It’s great at what it does have though!
@uncriticalsimon@felonybeard@sam_d_1995 NYC is super weird though and most of the grocery stores are eye wateringly expensive. I’m not sure that Whole Foods has truly national pricing but they at least benefit from economies of scale so they are often the “budget” choice for a lot of items here.
