Para um judeu, esse apoio significa muito mais do que uma opinião política.

Significa saber que, em tempos difíceis, não estamos sozinhos.

A história já nos ensinou o preço do silêncio do mundo. Por isso, jamais esqueceremos aqueles que decidiram não se calar.

Aos cristãos, aos amigos de Israel e a cada pessoa que, sem ser judia, levanta sua voz contra o antissemitismo e em defesa do direito de Israel existir e proteger seu povo:

obrigada por escolherem a coragem quando seria mais fácil escolher a conveniência.

Há momentos em que ficar ao lado de alguém é mais do que apoio.

É caráter. É consciência. É humanidade.

Syria, Al-Jolani, Turkey and Tom Barrack are a huge problem.

There is something deeply concerning happening in Syria, and Israel cannot afford to ignore it.

Turkey’s growing influence over the new Syrian government is becoming a serious strategic concern for Israel and the region. Ankara is supporting the rebuilding of Syria’s military, providing training and institutional assistance, and strengthening its relationship with Ahmed al-Sharaa’s Islamist-led government.

And then there is Tom Barrack, the U.S. envoy for Syria and ambassador to Turkey. His growing push for de-escalation and engagement with Damascus raises serious concerns. Barrack has not exactly demonstrated himself to be a strong friend of Israel, and his approach toward Syria and the region deserves much closer scrutiny. When it comes to Israel’s security, intentions matter, and I have serious doubts about his.

Today, after Israel struck a Syrian airbase that Turkey had reportedly been helping rehabilitate, Barrack called the Israeli strikes an “unnecessary escalation.”

This should concern anyone who understands Israel’s security environment.

Syria is no longer the Syria we knew. The Assad regime is gone, but the country is now being led by a government rooted in the former Islamist rebel movement Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. While the new leadership says it wants stability and a security agreement with Israel, Israel has every reason to remain cautious about an Islamist-led government on its northern border.

The bigger question is what happens if Turkey helps turn Syria into a stronger, more organized military state under Islamist leadership. Turkey cannot be trusted.

Israel should not be pressured into accepting a security arrangement that could ultimately create a new threat on its northern border. Iran’s influence in Syria was dangerous enough. Israel should not allow an Iranian problem to be replaced by a Turkish-backed Islamist problem.

This is not about wanting war with Syria or Turkey. It is about recognizing reality before it becomes a crisis.

Israel must have the freedom to defend itself, protect its borders, and prevent hostile military forces from establishing themselves next door. No diplomat, envoy, or foreign government should lose sight of that.
