Yesterday, I had a productive meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, Benin, and Togo, H.E. Simone Giger, where we discussed key areas of collaboration between our two countries.

I took the opportunity to commend the Swiss government for its continued support of Ghana’s decentralization efforts.

I also shared an important milestone in our commitment to fiscal decentralization: Parliament has approved the formula for the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), ensuring that 88% of the allocation will go directly to District Assemblies.

We also discussed the need for reforms in Ghana’s public procurement system, including our vision to establish an Independent Value for Money Office to scrutinize all government contracts above GHS5 million.

I welcome the Swiss government’s interest in providing technical assistance for Ghana’s Urban Mobility and Accessibility Programme in Takoradi and look forward to finalizing and implementing this agreement within the year.
