I did not go to college. To be honest with you… I barely finished high school.

But this week, I got to hold presentation on blockchain and the problem it solves for music at @Vlerick Business School in brussels.

I was invited as a case study, to tell my story as an artist and entrepreneur who has fully embraced web3 and successfully took her venture to the next step.

If 2 years ago when I started learning about web3, you had told me that today I’d be teaching about it in business schools around the world, I would have not believed you.

But now it’s happening, and it fills me with joy to be able to travel the world and spread the word about this life changing technology we are blessed to discover.

I was pleased to see the incredibly positive response from the audience and professors of the school, and the enthusiasm they showed towards the value we provide.

The big takeaway for me, once again, was that “normies” who are entrepreneurs, don’t actually care at all about market fluctuations, but they care about the solutions the tech provides to the world.

Music is a prime example of that, as well as extremely tangible and relatable to wider audiences who are not familiar or involved with the space yet.

Key points I focused on and that resonated with the audience were:
• PROVENANCE & AUTHENTICITY
• OWNERSHIP
• DIRECT COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION & ENGAGEMENT
• SOVEREIGNTY OF INDIVIDUALS
• UTILITY

Does the blockchain provide solutions for people?
Yes it does.
AND THAT IS WHY I AM BULLISH ON WEB3 🚀

How did I get to this presentation?
Well, one of our holders, @ApeSafari holds enough of my NFTs to unlock the utility to invite me to perform/speak at an event per year for free.
He chose to use his utility to help spread the word and invite me to the School he works at as a professor.
And there I was… and we got the audience to experience UTILITY in real time.

I'm filled with gratitude and awe for the incredible path it paved.

I want to tell you a bit of the story.
The video captures a brief but magical moment in the recording of the strings part on Sugar, one of the songs in the record.

2 YEARS OF WRITING
From August 2019 to August 2021, my co-writer and I poured our hearts and souls into crafting 5 songs.
It wasn't easy. We spent countless hours perfecting every note, every lyric.
We sweated and bled creativity, refusing to compromise on quality. These songs were our masterpiece, and they deserved nothing but the best.

CREATIVE RESOURCES
Amidst a pandemic, in a time when I was financially drained, opportunity knocked. A friend led me to a renowned producer in Nashville. But excellence came at a price, one I couldn't afford. Determined, I navigated the complexities of a government grant in Germany, securing the funds that would make our dream a reality.

PROFESSIONAL EXECUTION
In September 2021, we flew to Nashville with a team of 25 music professionals.
Together, we recorded the album in just 2 days. It was a whirlwind of passion, talent, and unwavering dedication.
We spared no effort, enlisted the best in the business, and poured our humanity into every note.
These 5 songs became a testament to the sincerity we put into our craft.

2 YEARS LATER...
Why are these 5 songs now worth half a million dollars as a music NFT album?
Because we refused to cut corners. Because we believed in our art.
Because we knew its value even when the world didn't. We did it for ourselves, but in doing so, we found kindred spirits like you, who saw the essence of our creation.

THE TRUTH ABOUT WEB3 INDIE ARTISTS.

I’ll tell you how I feel right now, and how I imagine many other colleagues might feel.

If you don’t see me on spaces as much during the day recently, apart from my own space which I host every day…

It’s because I am doing a lot of work in the background.

And by work, I don’t mean music.

In fact, I’d say only about 5% of my time has been spent actually working on music in the past 2 years.

You might ask… what are you doing then?

Well… ever since starting in web3, I have been running the project pretty much by myself.

Thankfully I have a couple of precious helpers for specific things (merch, discord).
And some amazing people that kindly offer help with things I just can’t figure out myself.
But everything else you see, it’s just me doing it it.
Every. Little. Thing.
The most tedious, time consuming, annoying, challenging tasks. Every single creative decision. Art and brand direction. Project management.

And believe me… there is a lot on the table.

I know I’m not the only artist out there in this situation. Indie artists are damn heroes.

It took me 2 years of this crazy pace to burn out.

The Another Life mint killed me. Exhausted me physically and mentally, and I didn’t give myself the time to recover until 6 months later.

I am much better now, so I’m catching up with things I left behind cause of burnout.

And still, only using 5% of my time for music.
But one day it will change.
One day I’ll be able to do more if what I do best and I love the most: make music, innovate, and be with the community.

Regardless of the constant exhaustion and sleep deprivation, I am happier than ever.

Because I know I’m not doing this for some clown behind a desk.

I’m doing this for the music and the people I love… so it’s all so worth it.

The road ahead is long and uphill. But I am more confident than ever that it will be a success.

In fact, it already is.
