Level 1: “Wow. My whole view of sexuality is in question now!”

Level 2: “Hold on a second. What does the text actually say?”

Level 3: “Paul used a Greek term 1 Cor 6 that clearly rules out all same-sex activity. While the English terms change over time the passage is still representing a classic Christian understanding of heterosexuality. This is fairly well-established in scholarship and it isn’t even a new idea. The 1946 claim is about English, not the Bible. The words may change but the meaning of the passage has not.”

Level 4: “It’s not just this passage. The Bible is so consistent and clear on this issue from Genesis, Leviticus, Roman, 1 Corinthians, etc., that I am shocked I was ever impressed by the original shallow post about the coining of the term “homosexuality.” Other arguments to get around the clarity of the rest of Scripture on this topic are equally bad once you dig past the meme level. What a rebellion against what God has said.”
