I've been deep in InfoFi for a while now
As a marketer and an active user
And I've seen both sides of it
By InfoFi, I mean the lazy version
handing out tokens so random accounts tweet about your protocol.
I watched some founders literally torch $100k on "InfoFi" tactics from token bounties, paid posts to KOL screenshots and what arrived on my timeline was textbook: thousands of low-effort shill posts, Bots talking to bots, No real users, and zero real retention.
โ ๏ธ attention โ adoption
We've already seen where this goes.
@zachxbt literally had to put bounties on exposing AI/bot farms farming InfoFi rewards. That alone should tell you the system is being gamed.
We've already seen how this ends.
Projects like @Humanityprot sold narratives and still left users holding the bag.
Meanwhile, the teams actually winning look boring on CT @billions_ntwk shipping identity infra, @PortaltoBitcoin strong community before noise, @base and @0xPolygon strongly coming up in the long game.
No fake virality. No engagement loops. Just real users.
Platforms like @wallchain, @KaitoAI, @xeetdotai can be the future if they fix the incentives, kill bot farming, and reward signal over spam.
Shortcuts inflate charts.
Communities build companies.
I'll take the second one โ every time.
๐จ Quick Warning for My Fam in Crypto/Web3 Community
Lately, a bunch of fake "job offers" have been popping up in DMs, usually from random accounts claiming to hire for new Web3 NFT or gaming projects. They promise easy work, high crypto pay, and ask you to join their Discord or download some "beta client"
It's all a setup to steal wallets, get your data, or infect your device.
Red Flags to Watchโ๏ธ
๐ Unsolicited job offers
๐ High ETH or USDT payouts for simple tasks
๐ Dodgy Discord invites
๐ Download links or wallet-connect requests
๐ No real website, team, or proof of project
If you get messages like these(also shared in the image)- don't click anything, not the link, not the invite, not the download, Nothing. Block instantly, and report.
If you interacted already- Revoke any connected apps
Check wallet authorizations on website like revoke(.)cash
Run a malware scan on your device
Post about it, share warnings, whatever you're comfortable with.
Your experience might save someone else's wallet.
Stay safe out here fam โ Crypto is amazing, but the scams are getting smarter. ๐ซถ
