Maemo (Nokia) + Moblin (Intel) were merged into the MeeGo project.
MeeGo + Bada (Samsung) were merged to form Tizen.
MeeGo still lives on in the form of SailfishOS from @JollaHQ.
Also, LG TVs don't run on Android either. They run on Web OS, a successor of Palm OS.
I tried to hack my Samsung TV so you don't have to:
Their Android-port is called Tizen and does not allow you to easily root the TV.
You'd have to brute force root it, which is possible, but risky, can brick TV and ruins warranty.
You can sideload some apps and do some stuff, like creating your own homescreen; set DNS to block Samsungs native ads; etc.
But not really what you've seen on X over the weekend.
If your TV runs on Android (like Xiami), go ahead - door is wide open and you can do a lot of fun stuff.
Not buying Samsung next time for this reason.
The way curves are disappearing from cars its only a matter of time until Mazda launches a boxy Mazda 6 and we are completly in this brutalist design dark age.
Motor insurance claims are a nightmare in India. @ACKOIndia claims #KairaliFord by @Indel_Corp is a cashless garage. Kairali @Ford denies it and asks for advance payment for parts to even do full inspection. Extortion as @FordIndia is no longer in the picture.
@duavarun kind attn
A lot of merchants including government services pass on credit card MDR charges to end consumer in the form of “convenience” charges. What’s stopping merchants from doing the same for UPI?
The introduction of MDR on large-value UPI transactions (i.e., above ₹2,000) is an important step towards strengthening the long-term sustainability of India’s digital payments ecosystem. It will help UPI in continuing to scale, innovate and serve consumers and businesses across the country.
A fair and appropriate distribution of MDR across ecosystem participants will support continued investment in technology, infrastructure and acceptance networks. This, in turn, can enable wider UPI acceptance, deepen the customer base and support sustained growth in transaction volumes.
Importantly, all UPI transactions - P2P and P2M - shall remain free for users. P2M UPI transactions below ₹2,000 will continue to remain free for merchants, while MDR may be levied on merchants for P2M .
RBI remains committed to ensuring that UPI continues to be safe, seamless, affordable, and accessible, while supporting the long-term sustainability and growth of India’s world-class digital payments ecosystem.
Saw a similar post going after @jarredsumner for porting Bun to Rust, and honestly, attacking someone for leaving a stack isn't healthy. Time will tell whether the call was right, but either way it was theirs to make.
Yep. Except:
1. This was about important internal tools. The team was stuck in some architecture nightmare of their own doing (writing it in rails but headless, with graphql api, and a SPA react app, constantly needing frontend engineers for changes). I call this kind of thing 'cosplaying an enterprise production app'. All that complexity was in the way and using straight rails was perfect in that case.
2. I make calls like this all the time. Usually someone on the team asks me to. They see what needs to happen but don’t want to be the bad guy. I’m happy to just make the call if I agree with the premise. Saves enormous amounts of meetings and change management etc. Sometimes this is jokingly referred to as Founder-mode-as-a-service here.
3. For ten years I’ve also run an internal podcast called Context, where I revisit decisions like these and explain the reasoning so everyone can learn from them. This is helpful to give people all the variables that were considered and why this was the choice made given the information available at the time. I want to teach how to make such decisions effectively without needing me. Sunk cost fallacy is a problem.
4. Any notions that Shopify is succcessful despite of me doing this, instead of because of it, will have a hard time making their argument come together I think 😄
the part of 'two weeks later tobi learns about...' is nonsese and the pivot of that project up there happens one of the more successful examples of interventions. But getting the company to work effectively with great architecture and low technical debt baggage into the right direction is literally the job, so guilty as charged I suppose.
But there are always cope stories floating around like this because they are more fun, than saying 'somehow we needed tobi to stop doing silly architecture astronautics'. I can totally see that.

Indian Gen Z isn't even sparing Billion Dollar Brands.
Bank of Baroda (BoB) refuses to tell which industrialists' loans worth ₹35,715 crore it wrote off.
Why? Because of the borrowers' "privacy".😂
Do you know what happens when you (the taxpayer) defaults on an EMI?
At times, the recovery agents call your company's HR, CEO and your boss to tell them that you are defaulting.
They come to your doorstep and humiliate you in front of your kids, neighbours and family.
Even though it is in violation of RBI's Fair Practices Code.
They leave no stone unturned to shame you and make your mental and physical health go for a toss.
In some cases, they even share your details in a newspaper (while selling your properties).
For wilful defaulters, they are allowed to publish the names and photos of such defaulters.
But apparently, when it comes to industrialists (simplified in this case – for those who have outstanding loans of ₹100 crore), BoB cites "privacy" and refuses to disclose such defaulters.
Privacy for defaulting on public money?
Privacy for the rich but not for the common man?
Privacy for those defaulting on our tax money?
BoB is a government company and thus, the money they're losing here is from our taxpayers' money.
Why do we have different rules for the taxpayers and the industrialists?

And this is how Mahindra chose to hoist the Indian flag on Independence Day?
This isn’t even drifting!
If an ordinary citizen had done this, an FIR would likely have been filed. Yet Mahindra is promoting it through influencers and YouTubers.
When brands glorify such acts, it’s no surprise that customers start believing it’s acceptable.

🚗 Why does the Toyota Innova Crysta still make sense in 2026?
It doesn't have the biggest screens.
It doesn't chase the latest gimmicks.
It doesn't try to look futuristic.
But look at what you actually get:
✅ 2.4L diesel
✅ 150 PS + 343 Nm
✅ 7/8-seat flexibility
✅ ECO & POWER drive modes
✅ 7 airbags on higher variants
✅ Vehicle Stability Control
✅ Hill Start Assist
✅ Suspension tuned for rough roads
✅ 24-hour roadside assistance
✅ Warranty up to 3 years / 1 lakh km
✅ Extended warranty up to 5 years / 2.2 lakh km
✅ 60-minute Express Maintenance
And perhaps the biggest advantage:
It's built around long-distance family travel rather than a feature list.
That's why the Crysta continues to have such a strong following.
Some cars impress you in the showroom.
The Crysta's biggest selling point is what happens after you've owned it for years. 👀
Would you still choose the Crysta over a newer, more feature-loaded MPV?
People tend to forget that you can no longer “buy” anything. Your movies, games, e-books or apps can be pulled from your library anytime. Your devices (and your cars very soon) can be deemed obsolete and bricked anytime.
A Google Play user says he purchased Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy suddenly disappeared from their library after Google removed it from its catalog.
According to screenshots shared by the user, Google Support confirmed the films were no longer available and said they couldn’t issue a refund because the purchase was made in 2022, which is outside the company’s standard 120-day refund window.
“I bought these in 2022, all of a sudden they aren’t available and there is no possibility of a refund or gift card. Hardly seems fair.”
THE CITADEL GAME THAT CAUSED LEOPOLD ASCHENBRENNER’S FORCED SALE
> Citadel sees a young man in his early twenties managing a fund worth over $45 billion, nearly twice the size of Bill Ackman’s fund, which has been in operation for 23 years.
> The fund, in just 2 years, has grown from a modest $225 million to over $40 billion, with just 8 employees and no background in asset management. The fastest growing fund in history.
> Citadel sees a weakness in the portfolio ⟶ leverage.
> Citadel knows the thesis is right: AI infrastructure is where the real money is in AI. No matter who wins in the model race, the infrastructure wins.
> Now, this young man is holding billions in these assets.
> Then July 10 came after the $SKHY trade, followed by a major selloff across all AI stocks, with most down more than 30% in 2 weeks between July 10–20.
> Leopold Aschenbrenner’s short positions starts moving up against his direction, causing more losses (he was short on software stocks), with positions worth billions of dollars.
> July 24th, Leopold Aschenbrenner sends a letter to investors calling the selloff a buying opportunity and asks for more money, with that window to be open on August 1st, the same day of his wedding. With good news that the fund is up 439% through June YTD.
Perfect opportunity:
> July 27, Citadel Securities raised a false alarm, saying the Fed is gonna do a surprise rate hike.
> July 28, retail, out of fear, the market sells off after Citadel’s report & Leopold Aschenbrenner tries to raise & borrow more money to avoid a margin call for bleeding options positions. Both long and short positions bleeding.
> July 29, banks’ margin calls began. News people spread fear, the selling continues. Perfect opportunity.
> July 30, Jane Street and other market makers bid, but Citadel’s price is better. Citadel buys the majority of his portfolio for a massive discount.
> 3rd August, Citadel Securities is up more than $3 billion in just 2 days after buying Leopold Aschenbrenner’s Situational Awareness public book.
> Same Monday, 3rd August, Citadel Securities says, “the bull market drivers are intact.”
No AI bubble news, no market top, but buying the majority of the Leopold Aschenbrenner portfolio is the AI bottom and the start of the bull market.
Sad for those who didn’t buy the bottom. Because Citadel, as a market maker, won’t sell those positions anytime soon.
The game is rigged against retail and anyone that offers retail help.
