Teen girl’s arrest in Scotland sparks major online uproar
Police in Dundee detained a teen girl, charging her with possession of a blade after a confrontation with foreigners.
A video widely shared online shows her defending her sister and telling a man: “Don’t touch my sister, she’s 12.”
The footage fueled speculation, with many portraying the incident as an assault by a migrant. Elon Musk and right-wing commentators joined in, with Musk posting: “What government arrests little girls trying to protect themselves?”
Scottish police later did not confirm accusations against foreigners and urged the public not to spread misinformation.
Still, questions remain: why did the man approach the underage girls in the first place, what were his intentions, and what about his behavior made them feel threatened?
Given Britain’s past scandals over mass child abuse by Pakistani gangs, public concerns are understandable.
Meanwhile, the girl has been hailed as a social media hero — depicted as a “Braveheart” figure — and a crowdfunding campaign has already raised £30,000 for her defense.
The case will be handled under the juvenile system, with the investigation ongoing.
