In 1939, 20-year-old Jesse Lee Bond was lynched in Tennessee after asking a store for a receipt. More than eight decades later, his great-granddaughter, Kyra Harris Bolden, made history at just 34 years old as the first Black woman to serve on the Michigan Supreme Court.
Dear Gamecocks,
I’m sitting here tonight with a stiff drink and a cigar burning, rethinking it all. The wins. The losses. The heartbreak. The hope. The Saturdays that have made me feel like the luckiest fan alive and the Saturdays that have made me want to throw my phone across the room.
I love this damn school. I love these colors. I love Willy-B. I love the people who make this place feel like home. I love the fight, the passion, the ridiculous expectations, and even the heartbreak that comes with caring way too much. I’m a proud alumnus. I bleed garnet.
I’m going to criticize you when I think you deserve it. I’m going to demand more when I know you can do better. I’m going to question decisions and call out things that aren’t good enough. But don’t ever confuse that with me walking away. I’m not a fair-weather fan. I’m not here because it’s easy. I’m here because I believe in you.
Through thick and thin. That’s the deal I made a long time ago. I still love my Gamecocks. And whatever the future may hold, I’ll be right here, waiting for the next Saturday.
Forever to thee. ❤️🐔
Love and touchdowns,
LB
**BREAKING**
South Carolina will honor legendary head coach Lou Holtz this weekend during the Gamecocks’ matchup against Kentucky.
Skip Holtz and members of the Holtz family will be in Columbia for the special recognition.
NEW: The SEC and South Carolina have announced a joint one-game suspension of star EDGE Dylan Stewart for throwing a punch at an Alabama player.
"Such action against an opponent carries a serious risk of injury and has no place in our conference competition," Greg Sankey said.
