Family planning is one thing I would never wish for my enemy

So I said to myself that even before I had my last baby 18-09-2024 me and my husband thought that three kids was enough for us

I said to myself that I need family planning
because my womb likes carrying babies

Before you know I am pregnant, before I would close my eyes and open it am pregnant again

That was how the thoughts of inserting family planning came in.

I decided to go for 5 years planning
That was the biggest mistake of my life
Immediately it was inserted inside of me, the whole of my body hormones change from positive to negative

First of foremost I started reducing weight
me that was weighing 75 on scale reduce to 53 on scale

I became so small that you would think I was hungry at home, or sick

People who knew me hardly recognise me

My period that was 4-5 days became 14 -20 day's every month

I lost my self in the process
I couldn't work for 1 hour before you know it will be feeling so deezy

My body discharge change
Lost Appetites
Eating was a big problem for me

It was so bad that every month I will be in the hospital for 3-5 times

Told doctors how I was feeling they said with time it will stop

I ask Biko till when, before I kpaii or when

Because I was no longer my self
My husband said if it is not working on your body please take it out, immediately I replied that yes, this thing needs to go out from my body before I would lose my sanity

Went to the hospital for removal, yet this doctors still left a piece inside my body.

If you think of trying family planning please abort that mission.

The man feels no shame. None. And you still sit there wondering why this country remains a graveyard of wasted hands.

Too many souls have married poverty. They wear wretchedness like a favourite agbada and call the gutter home. You drag them out with bleeding palms, spend one million five hundred thousand naira to put a new motorcycle under their feet and they sell the blessing before the engine even cools. Then they climb back onto the same rickety death-trap they were given to escape.

You can wash a pig. It will still return to the mud.
You can lead a goat to green pasture. It will still shit on what it's supposed to feed on.
A man who prefers darkness will blow out every lantern you light for him.

This is not misfortune. This is a chosen lifestyle. Extreme wretchedness has become their comfort, their identity, their religion. You cannot save a man who has made drowning his profession.

And this is how help dies in this land: we keep throwing our pity at the loudest beggars in rags, while the quiet ones... clean, dignified, actually drowning but stand unseen. I would not be shocked if that fool took the money and booked "2 sure odds." Some people do not want a way out. They only want another chance to crawl back into the hole they call home.

A man who sells the hoe you gave him to farm will return to digging with his fingernails and still blame the soil.
