@steven_kolber@mattoman71 Thanks. What I spoke about on the pod is addressed in one of the chapters of this book. JCH's video I referenced was a plug for his book.
I've been working with students writing on The Castle this week. So many of them perceive the Kerrigan family to be middle class:
They own their own home, Dad has his own tow-truck biz, Tracey has a TAFE diploma
Markers of working class life have become middle class realities
1) Teachers have already shown how flexible they are
2) We're not resistant to change, we've been asking for change for ages. We are resistant to change for change sake with zero input into it
3) We're already accountable to many stakeholders
4) We accept evidence, not fads
@MrMCimino I'm sure that the rich, straight, 5th gen American, white guy paid to do all the speeches will tailor it slightly to each group. #differentiation
@JoelBSperanza I think the reason most schools choose to stream students is that it makes it easier on the teacher. They feel they can differentiate better.
@aliceleung @Capitan_Typo I am 100%with @aliceleung . There's no need to ruin kids yet; Wait until they are a bit older, say 8-12, use a Murdoch paper, don't have any prizes, and then explain to the children that it's the other childrens fault they have to go without.
