BREAKING: Israel’s government votes unanimously to recognize the Armenian Genocide. Turkey is furious.
1.5 million systemically murdered for who they were, and denied ever since.
A genocide.
It’s never too late to tell the truth.
In my role as United States Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic, I'm committed to engaging with key figures from across Greece's political spectrum. I recently had an excellent meeting with former Prime Minister Samaras to discuss U.S.-Greece ties. 🇺🇸 🇬🇷
🇺🇸🇹🇷🇮🇱 Israeli PM Netanyahu on Turkish President Erdogan statements on Israel:
"Hardly a day goes by without Erdoğan calling for the destruction of the State of Israel. We take those statements very seriously, because if there is one lesson our people's history has taught us, it is this: when someone says they intend to destroy you, believe them. We take these threats seriously, and we will also draw the attention of our American friends to these statements. We will not ignore them".
Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to journalists: "War is a harsh, painful, and bloody reality. And it is this reality that we come to know through your fellow journalists, who, with courage and at risk to their own lives, report from the battlefields." https://t.co/JClBd07Eqg

When a hostile neighbour threatens war to prevent the exercise of sovereign rights guaranteed under international law, stability is not preserved through restraint-it is redefined around the threat itself.
In Greece’s case, decades of restraint have not moderated Turkish claims. They have normalized them, turning coercion into an accepted diplomatic reality and fuelling the continued expansion of Turkish revisionism.
🔴 Over time, Turkish claims in the Aegean have expanded far beyond territorial waters, the continental shelf and maritime delimitation. Turkey has challenged Greek sovereignty over islands, disputed Greek national airspace, violated it with military aircraft, refused to recognise Greek responsibilities within the Athens FIR, contested Greece’s search and rescue jurisdiction, and demanded the demilitarisation of the very islands it threatens.
‼️This expansion has been enabled by a dangerous international imbalance.
The international community's desire to avoid an intra-NATO conflict has translated into pressure on Greece-not on Turkey.
⚠️The 🇬🇷🇹🇷 tensions persist not because Greece’s lawful rights threaten peace, but because NATO and the EU have failed to decisively defend the very rules-based order they claim to uphold.
As a result, the lawful exercise of Greek sovereign rights is often portrayed as a potential risk or provocation, while Turkey's illegal threat of war is treated as a political reality to be accommodated.
🔴By keeping its territorial waters at six nautical miles, Greece leaves vast areas open for Turkey to challenge airspace, maritime activities, jurisdictional responsibilities, and sovereign rights.
‼️The extension of Greek territorial waters to 12 nautical miles-an unquestionable right under international law-would eliminate the basis for most Turkish claims, strip them of their practical relevance, and impose the legal order that Turkey seeks to avoid.
⚠️The longer Greece delays exercising its lawful rights over its territorial waters, the more Turkey’s threats and claims become normalised within the diplomatic landscape, encouraging the continued expansion of Turkish revisionism.

Turkey's readmission into the F-35 program would be unacceptable and illegal. I pressed @SecRubio on this and underscored why Turkey cannot have F-35s.
This is no coincidence. Lemnos has long been a focal point of Turkish revisionism in the Aegean.
The image speaks for itself: EFES-2026 Exercise appears to use a Greek island as a reference point. Yet another reminder that the defensive militarization of Greek islands is not a choice, it is a necessity.
Context: Turkish pilots from the 161st "Yarasa" (Bat) Squadron at Bandırma Air Base were photographed by the official Anadolu Agency preparing for exercise EFES-2026, with the island of Lemnos prominently displayed on the briefing screen behind them.
Happy to have met President Nikos Christodoulides in Delhi. We held extensive deliberations on further strengthening the India-Cyprus friendship. Considering the close ties between our nations, we have decided to elevate our friendship into a Strategic Partnership. Ours is indeed a strong and futuristic partnership rooted in shared values. The growing investment linkages between our nations are a matter of immense joy and we hope to increase trade and economic ties in the times to come.
