But I have considered this for a while now. I just can't come up with any ideas good enough to invest the effort. Maybe I am too intent on it being 'original'?

Any suggestions on how to come up with an idea?

Bad ideas fall by the wayside, good ideas thrive.

We need to see political views, like sexuality, as a spectrum. Someone can disagree with you without being a bigot.

It is very common parlance. You could easily replace it with "LGBTQIA+ community".
